The 2009 Fishing for Freedom bass tournament sponsored by the Central Texas Marine Association may be history, but the fun, fellowship and camaraderie will be a living history in the hearts of all who participated.  230 teams representing 460 fishermen and almost 100 volunteers made sure the event was a success.

Boaters, we wish to thank you for such fantastic participation.  Fishermen from as far away as Washington State, Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas and Louisiana drove hundreds of miles to participate. We are happy to announce that every soldier who signed up had a fishing  partner. "No soldier left behind!"  Sponsors, we wish to thank you for your generous support, without your donations none of this would be possible.  Special mention goes out to Texas Partners Federal Credit Union and to the Ft. Hood BOSS program for sponsoring the Friday night BBQ.  Thanks to Academy Sports & Outdoors for their generous gifts and promotional efforts. Three cheers to Mike Mennor and his MWR/BLORA crew for their dedication, hard work and for allowing us to stage this event at BLORA.  A BIG Texas handshake and thank you to the owners and crews of Texas Boat World and Marine Outlet for the hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars that they donated to make the weekend a roaring success.  And to the photographers, Sherran Bard and Kaylene McClafferty, who came from hundreds of miles away at their own expense to photograph this event so we have a permanent record-job well done!    To the  volunteers that have worked tirelessly to make this event possible, words cannot describe our appreciation for your efforts-THANK YOU.

The photographs and complete results will be posted as soon as we can download all the files.  We will do our best to have everything up in a few days.

What We Do

We are a group of Central Texas businessmen and women who wish to thank our active duty military and our honorably discharged veterans for thier service to our country.  Our mission is to make sure each man and women who have served with honor have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors of Texas.  We offer free fishing trips on area lakes.  Once a year we gather together the boaters of Central Texas with these heroes for a fishing tournament.  The dates for our 2009 tournament are October 9 & 10.  The tournament will be held on Lake Belton on Saturday and on Friday night we will have a FREE BBQ dinner for all the participants along with some excellent fishing and boating seminars.  The Friday night event will be held at the Killeen Convention Center.

If you wish to donate money or prizes for this event then please contact us.  Our registrations forms for the boaters and non-boaters will go online in mid August along with the tournament rules.  There is no charge to boaters and to the non-boaters but pre-registration is required.
